Bared To You…

AUTHOR: Sylvia Day

SYNOPSIS

Our journey began in fire… Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily… Gideon knew . He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart… “When it comes to brewing up scorchingly hot sexual chemistry, Day has few literary rivals.”

REVIEW

I absolutely loved this book, i truly could not put it down, the moment i bought it i tore through the wrapping and started reading and didnt put it down since i finished it. The story is set in the background of New York and the characters are very interesting from the very beginning of the book, they make you curious as there are many holes in the story from the start making you have a million questions and conjure up a thousand answers and “what ifs”.

The characters are more than well developed and come with a twinge of wickedness to them. You might not like some of them but they will definitely hold the whole story together. This book is not only intensely hot, it is also very sad and you go through the ups and downs with the characters as you read it.

Do have a look at it and happy super reading! 🙂

The Wicked Girls..

Author: Alex Marwood

SYNOPSIS

One fateful summer morning in 1986, two eleven-year-old girls meet for the first time and by the end of the day are charged with murder. Twenty-five years later, journalist Kirsty Lindsay is reporting on a series of sickening attacks on young female tourists in a seaside town when her investigation leads her to interview funfair cleaner Amber Gordon. For Kirsty and Amber, it’s the first time they’ve seen each other since that dark day when they were just children. But with new lives – and families – to protect, will they really be able to keep their wicked secret hidden?

REVIEW

The characters in this book are painfully real; the downtrodden fairground cleaner Amber gives the reader a crushing sense of being trapped in a situation she can’t get out of while at the same time being only too aware of others’ low expectations of her, and hers of herself. The controlling and bullying Vic will remind the reader of that feeling of being in a relationship where you are always on the back foot while Kirsty hides a multitude of insecurities and secrets behind a confident exterior. The supporting characters are no less finely-drawn; fellow cleaners Blessed and Jackie and frustrated house-husband Jim don’t lack for detail and imagination.

he exploitation of the public by the media is explored in such a way that you find yourself subsequently examining your reaction to every story in the newspaper – in the hysteria around both the Whitmouth killings and the reporting of the 1986 murder there are echoes of Chris Jefferies (the wrongly-accused landlord of murder victim Joanna Yeates who was subjected to trial-by-media) and the prurient glee which surfaces every time the Jamie Bulger case pops up in the news. Marwood’s depiction of press intrusion, fact-free journalism being outrageously misleading in its use of innuendo and the baying mob mentality from the public is perfectly executed.

Even though this book was very exciting to me, i doubt i will read another book by this author, plus the ending was not really one of my favorites.. But i do suggest everyone to check out this book,

The book for today is called “Runaway”

Author: Wendelin Van Draanen

SYNOPSIS

“It’s a cold, hard, cruel fact that my mother loved heroin more than she loved me.” Holly is in her fifth foster home in two years and she’s had enough. She’s run away before and always been caught quickly. But she’s older and wiser now–she’s twelve–and this time she gets away clean. Through tough and tender and angry and funny journal entries, Holly spills out her story of what she goes through witnessing things she never seen before. We travel with her across the country–hopping trains, scamming food, sleeping in parks or homeless encampments. And we also travel with her across the gaping holes in her heart–as she finally comes to terms with her mother’s addiction and death. Runaway is a remarkably uplifting portrait of a girl still young and stubborn and naive enough to hold out hope for finding a better place in the world, and within herself, to be .

REVIEW

Like  “Scarred” this is just one of those books that will pull at your heart, the story line( being that it is a true story) is extremely sad and disturbing, it is very well written, when i read it i experienced the feelings of loneliness, sadness, all the struggles that the main character goes through. It is definitely a steal, and it would be a shame to not read it. 🙂

Scarred…

The book that i will be reviewing today is called “Scarred”.

Author: Sophie Andrews

SYNOPSIS

Growing up, Sophie carried a terrible secret. She was her father’s slave, in the most horrific ways imaginable. At just a few months old she was adopted by a couple that seemed comfortably off and perfectly respectable to the outside world. But behind closed doors, Sophie’s childhood was a living hell. Her father spent the next decade grooming her for abuse and when Sophie’s mother left for good, that very night, he told Sophie that from now on she would sleep in his bed. Unable to cope, Sophie spiraled into suicidal misery. She began to self-harm to try and escape the agony. But one day she went too far and at 16, ended up in a psychiatric unit. It was here that she finally confronted the horrors of home and began the painful journey of rebuilding her life. A phenomenally courageous woman, Sophie now works for the Samaritans and helps other young people in need. Harrowing yet compelling, this is a searing and truly inspirational account of overcoming the worst abuse and self-harm.

REVIEW

This is a book that will pull at your heart strings from the very first page to the last one, the character development is done exquisitely, the story line has twists and turns that just make you want to cry with every page you turn. The author has 2 more books that i shall discuss later, but this one is by no doubt the most horrifying and heartbreaking one.

I strongly suggest for all to read this book, even though it will have you in tears most of the times, the ending is perfect and worth every page. Truly a page turner.
