Bared To You…

AUTHOR: Sylvia Day

SYNOPSIS

Our journey began in fire… Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily… Gideon knew . He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart… “When it comes to brewing up scorchingly hot sexual chemistry, Day has few literary rivals.”

REVIEW

I absolutely loved this book, i truly could not put it down, the moment i bought it i tore through the wrapping and started reading and didnt put it down since i finished it. The story is set in the background of New York and the characters are very interesting from the very beginning of the book, they make you curious as there are many holes in the story from the start making you have a million questions and conjure up a thousand answers and “what ifs”.

The characters are more than well developed and come with a twinge of wickedness to them. You might not like some of them but they will definitely hold the whole story together. This book is not only intensely hot, it is also very sad and you go through the ups and downs with the characters as you read it.

Do have a look at it and happy super reading! 🙂

REVIEW

Not all the characters in this book are not as evolved and as growing as i would like it to be. But it is an “OK” read, the main character evolves and changes as the twists and turns of the book give him new feelings he never thought he would have. The scenes are too set up though for my liking and not as spontaneous as i would like.

The book has the statement ” Devoured Fifty Shades? Then lose yourself in Forbidden Desires”.. which i don’t see as a real fit to the book since it is nothing like Fifty Shades Of Grey at all.. But for erotica lovers, this is the book for you.

I doubt i will be reading anything else by Marina Anderson, but like i said, if you are a fan of erotica then this is a good one for you.

Broken..

AUTHOR: Karin Slaughter

SYNOPSIS

When the body of a young woman is discovered deep beneath the icy waters of Lake Grant, a note left under a rock by the shore points to suicide. But within minutes, it becomes clear that this is no suicide. It’s a brutal, cold-blooded murder. All too soon former Grant County medical examiner Sara Linton — home for Thanksgiving after a long absence — finds herself unwittingly drawn into the case. The chief suspect is desperate to see her, but when she arrives at the local police station she is met with a horrifying sight — he lies dead in his cell, the words ‘Not me’ scrawled across the walls. Something about his confession doesn’t add up and deeply suspicious of the detective in charge, Lena Adams, Sara immediately calls the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Shortly afterwards, Special Agent Will Trent is brought in from his vacation to investigate. But he is immediately confronted with a wall of silence. Grant County is a close-knit community with loyalties and ties that run deep. And the only person who can tell the truth about what really happened is dead.

REVIEW

In Karin Slaughter’s tenth novel, she combines the characters from her two ongoing detective series, who come together to help solve a series of murders in the small town of Heartsdale, in Grant County, Georgia.( You do not need to have read the previous 2 novels to enjoy and understand this one though)

The mystery of the killings is solved at the end, but that never really seems to be the point of a Slaughter book. Rather, the process of criminal investigation provides a framework for Slaughter to explore the flawed, complex characters who work on the cases.

Slaughter never portrays the human condition in black or white – her ability to create realistic, three-dimensional characters is what makes her work stand out from so many other authors in this genre.

At the end of the book, the characters remain broken, but they’ve moved on to a new day and a new resolve to cope in a world full of bashed dreams.

If you are a reader of suspense novels, pick up Karin Slaughter.

The prequel to Forbidden Desires

REVIEW

I personally never read erotic novels, and to tell the truth i did not think it would be such..( i had an idea but it by far surpassed my thoughts). The story is one which could be somewhat interesting if not for the many sultry scenes. The storyline is well formed, but it is basically formed around the sex scenes. Characters are highly manipulative and develop as the story continues. It is very disturbing and keeps you interested to see where the story leads.

But i believe it is rather predictable, through out the entire time reading it i could tell where the story was heading, but of course with a twist and surprise ending at the end i was very satisfied and shocked.

They say on the cover “You’ve devoured Fifty Shades . . . now dive in to the wild intensity of Dark Secret” but i would not suggest this read for the people who enjoyed 50 shades( as i did), because they are both erotic, but 50 shades is for romantics and this one is for those who just want some steamy, sexy, raunchy scenes.. 🙂

REVIEW

This is not the kind of book i usually read, but i like to try out new genres so i started with this one. The book is set in a make believe place but the characters are very well developed and it keeps you interested and you do not see the twists and turns that sneak up on you through out the book.

The story line is alright, but i believe it could have been better, i particularly did not enjoy the ending, i felt it left many questions unanswered needless to say though, i did enjoy the book. I would say try it out and expect great surprises. 🙂

Ruby…

AUTHOR: V. C. Andrews

SYNOPSIS

In the heart of the bayou, Ruby Landry lives a simple, happy life. But innocence can’t last forever… The only family Ruby Landry has ever known are her loving guardian, Grandmère Catherine, a Cajun spiritual healer, and her drunken, outcast Grandpèrb Jack. Although thinking about her dead mother and mysterious father sometimes makes her feel as mournful as the wind sighing through the Spanish moss, Ruby is grateful for all she has. Her life is filled with hope and promise…especially when her attraction for handsome Paul Tate blossoms into a mysterious, wonderful love. But Paul’s wealthy parents forbid him to associate with a poor Landry, and Grandmère urges her to follow her dream of becoming a great painter, foreseeing a time when Ruby will be surrounded with riches in the dazzling city of New Orleans! Yet she cannot know how close that uncertain future looms…. In a faded photograph, Ruby glimpses for the first time the image of her father — and learns of a shameful deception and a shocking scheme of blackmail that now must come to light. Stunned by these revelations, she is devastated when Grandmère dies, leaving her to seek out her father in his vast New Orleans mansion. There, in a house of lies, madness, and cruel torment, Ruby clings to her memories of Paul to keep her heart alive. For only their love can save her now….

REVIEW

I actually read this novel when i was 13 years old, my first real novel to read and i loved it then and i love it still. Ruby is a very good book. While her character got on my nerves at times—she is very willing to believe the best in people and is so easily deceived and taken advantage of it makes me want to smack her—she is generally likeable.

The book starts with her life on the bayou with her grandmother and her boyfriend Paul, a life that is genuinely happy for her. Things fall apart as Grandmere dies, she discovers Paul is her half-brother and her truly odious grandfather sells her into a marriage to a cruel, wealthy man. She runs away, seeking her father’s family. Things don’t really get better as she’s pushed into a world of betrayals and double faces. Giselle, her twin, is a selfish, vain, and cruel character who resents Ruby’s intrusion into their lives. While you hate her, it’s still easy to understand why she is that way; and Daphne, her mother, is a hateful, jealous woman who is honestly chilling to read. The book is very engaging, I found myself desperately flipping the pages toward the end, with a startlingly real and evocative cast of characters. I also liked the mix of Voodoo through in, and the way in which it was portrayed. Spooky stuff.

All in all i suggest everyone read this book, but the book is rather old. 🙂

REVIEW

This is the sequel to ” Fifty Shades Of Grey”, if you have read it then you would know that it ended with them being broken up, so this is the continuation straight from there. This book once again is very well written, the naive girl has experienced things and pleasures she never thought possible, but with that she realized came the consequences of being with a powerful enigma that is Christian Grey. The characters continue to grow and explore each other and with so many twists in the plot it is just magnificent. Not only is this book super erotic( in a very classy and untacky way) it is also very romantic with a touch of thrill and drama in it.

I suggest you read this book because it is awesome, but if you are going to read it i would suggest you read the first one first ” Fifty Shades Of Grey

REVIEW

I read a lot of teen supernatural books, more than I should probably. I realize a lot of them are fun, and give you a day off from having to think too hard. Relaxation at it’s best. It is however rare to find quality of writing, and quality of story, in these paranormal teen books (ahem Twilight for example), I would like to see the teens who are reading this genre to pick these books up and see what good quality storytelling can mean for how you feel when you lay the book back down. If you liked the Immortal Instrument Series, Twilight Saga, or even the Vampire Diaries, you will love Nightworld.

This book was definitely something different, but in a good way. It’s pretty much three stories about humans, and paranormal creatures breaking the rules, and falling in love, and getting into all sorts of exciting trouble. One thing that i really enjoyed about this book is that it opened me to a new style of supernatural romance. Usually i read books that are filled with couples that show affection throughout the entire book. And that made me kinda iffy about reading this one after i read the first story since there wasn’t a whole bunch of sparks going. But the story plots are awesome and it keeps you interested! And the small bits of romance just compliment it. It’s hard to explain… read the book! its awesome.
